Our top 10 Self Care Activities
We encourage you to join us in prioritising self-care. During these uncertain times, learning to prioritise yourself and taking the time to care for yourself is absolute essential. Self care is not a luxury – it’s a must (particularly right now!)
Self-care can look differently to everyone. It's about setting aside some time for yourself each day, and doing something that makes you feel happy and supports your physical, mental and emotional health. The way you care for yourself, and the time you allow to recharge and rest, is just as important as the time you dedicate to creating your dream life. When you take time for YOU, you’re creating the space you need to live a well, full life. Here are our top tips:
1. Unplug from technology
Have a night away from technology or go one better and have a day off from your devices (this is our number one go-to!)
2. Dedicate 15 minutes a day to you
This won’t take away from your productivity – it will increase it. Take time to connect with yourself and pay attention to what you need.
3. Write down five things you're grateful for
When we reflect on the good in our life, it tells our brains to take more notice of what's good. This helps pull our mind's focus away from what's bad, lacking or challenging. And that can make us generally happier 🌻
4. Read
When was the last time you got lost in a good book? Please share your book recommendations with us, we'd love to pass them onto those who may be in a reading rut.
5. Sit in stillness for at least 10 minutes
This can be tough from some, but we encourage you to give it a try! Be with the sensations: the sounds, the smells, the feeling on your skin. If anxious or negative feelings come up, notice that too. Name it for what it is by saying: "Huh, there's anxiety in my stomach" and then return your attention to the sounds and sensations.
6. Stretch your gorgeous body
Our gorgeous bodies crave a good stretch!
7. Do something fun and creative
When was the last time you did something fun? Spark some joy into your daily routine. You'll love it!
8. Spend time in nature
Ah! Spending time in nature can do wonders. It doesn't have to be a serious mountain hike. A simple stroll to your local park will do the trick! You could even sit outside with a lovely cup of tea :)
9. Connect with loved ones
You could call, text, FaceTime, Zoom or write a handwritten card. Your loved ones would LOVE to hear from you.
10. Get rid of (aka donate) five things you never use
So satisfying and so so cleansing!!
